President Hoover Suite

President Hoover Suite

Queen Bed, Large Separate Sitting Room, Private Bathroom with Antique Clawfoot Tub and Shower, Cable Television & Free Wireless Internet Access, Antique Zenith Radio, Central Heat and Air Conditioning.

The 31st President of the United States stayed at the Occidental Hotel in the summer of 1932, when he was still President. He was in Wyoming running for re-election (a race that he lost to Franklin Delano Roosevelt in November of that year.)

The register of the hotel shows that the President stayed in one of the rooms that are now a part of the President Hoover Suite. And old timers who remembered his visit have told us that he very much enjoyed his stay at the Occidental. Photographs from the period show a smiling President greeting local residents in the lobby of the hotel.

The suite is located on the ground floor of the hotel. The bed is a lovely brass and iron antique with a fine pillow-top mattress. The bathroom is small, but comfortable (it includes the same tub that was here in 1932). The bedroom and the large sitting room are both paneled with the original wainscoting, and decorated in authentic period style.
