In his youth, the 26th President of the United States was a rancher in the West. And when he came to hunt in the Big Horn Mountains, he stayed at the best hotel in Buffalo - The Occidental. In those days, The Occidental was already known far and wide as one of the best hotels in the West.

After he retired from the Presidency, Roosevelt visited Wyoming on several occasions. And local lore relates that he actually stayed in one of the rooms that now make up the elegant Roosevelt Suite.

The bedroom showcases a handsome high-backed Victorian Walnut Bed, original to the hotel, with a superb Queen pillow-top mattress. The view from the west window is of ancient leafy cottonwoods and tall pines in summer, and of the majestic peaks of the Big Horn Mountains in Winter.

A separate sitting room provides a large and relaxed setting for reading and conversation, and an antique desk for writing letters. The bathroom is a Victorian gem, with a large clawfoot tub and shower, and beautifully restored period decor.
